Back To The Observatory Project

(Below) Day One - Post foundations dug - 18"X18"X18"+tall on down slope.  Rebar to anchor into limestone bedrock at surface. Day Two - Pier foundation dug - 6'X6'X2.5' deep.  No freeze line here in south Texas.  More rebar anchors into bedrock planned.

     Day 2>

(Below) Day Three (1 1/2 wks later) - Is this a disaster waiting to happen?  Contractor assures me that this will work.  Stay tuned....

(Below) Pouring Day - Well here it is.  Having read so many horror stories, I came home at dusk to a very pleasant surprise....IT LIVES!  Day After - Naked cement and a REAL pier!  Contractors did some patching of honeycomb but everything looks good-to-go :>)
