The nestlings are 3 days older, and only 2 days from fledging. Notice how they are leaning farther out of the gourd, as compared to the 6/5/08 photo.

Four young martins fledged on 6/10/08. Here, the four youngsters are attended by one of the adults.

Purple Martin 4/29/06

An adult pair. Martins were slow to discover my gourd rack, and only one pair has nested each year, although subadults are usually around as non-breeders and can sometimes be seen tending the young in the one nest.

Blue Grosbeak 6/7/09

First year male.

Painted Bunting 7-19-08

Painted Buntings nested nearby this year, and several first-year males, as well as adult males and females have frequented the feeders.

Brown-headed Cowbird 5-26-08

Male and female Cowbirds, with a female House Finch in the foreground. Cowbirds can be found year-round in the area, but usually only around my place in the spring and early summer.

Orchard Oriole 5/1/09

A few probably nest nearby. Many more seen during spring and fall migrations.

Scott's Oriole 8/3/08

Juvenile male.

Scott's Oriole 9/4/07

A young female. 2007 was the first year that Scott's Orioles were resident in my neighborhood.

Scott's Oriole 9/4/07

This young female first appeared after an adult male discovered the feeder, and perhaps showed her where the feeder was. He disappeared shortly thereafter, but she continued to visit regularly for several more weeks.
