January 29, 2011.  I joined San Antonio Audubon Society for a trip on the Vanishing Texas River Cruise.  Lake Buchanan and The Canyon of the Eagles is located west of Burnet, Texas.  The cruise lasted about 4 1/2 hours, and included homemade chicken gumbo, a box lunch, and the freedom to move around from the open upper deck to the enclosed lower deck of the tour boat.  Several individual Bald Eagles were sighted, along with at least one Golden and numerous ducks, shorebirds, and other birds.  Waterfalls, intriguing rock formations, and wildlife sightings were also part of the trip.
